In an interview with the Indian Express, Abhishek shared that he felt that ‘the movie happened yesterday’. He added that it was a great pleasure to make and nine years later, people are still talking about it. Asked about the challenges of bringing the whole movie to life, Abhishek said that multiple subplots of the film and translating historical events on screen was a challenge.
In more detail, Abhishek says it was not an easy movie, since it was shot in Gujarat at the peak of summer, at 50 degrees, it was painful – people fainted on camera and with that the shooting riot sequence and everything in life was hard.
Abhishek added that one thing that was as consistent as the thread between each crew member was the tension. Recalling the moments, he shared that each team member was on the same creative trajectory.
When asked about the casting, Abhishek revealed that they initially tried to make a big name, but the picture was not written that way. So, the only logical step was to find new people, and since he did the same thing with Farhan Akhtar in ‘Rock On’, he knew that as long as he felt connected to them, he would be a good idea to work with new people. Keep feeling.
